Nairn County will welcome Scottish Championship side St Mirren to Station Park for a friendly match on Sunday July 2nd pending SFA approval. Kick-off is at 2.00 pm.
The Buddies finished the season in seventh place after a dramatic late turnaround following the appointment of manager Jack Ross.
Ross inherited a side bottom of the table in October but despite the disappointment of losing the Scottish Challenge Cup final to Dundee United in March, the new boss inspired a run of results which secured seventh place ahead of Dumbarton and Raith Rovers on goal difference, with the latter dropping into the playoffs and meaning that St Mirren’s 5-0 thumping of the Kirkcaldy club proved crucial.
Despite losing star man Stevie Mallan to Barnsley, Ross is focussed on taking the Paisley-based club back to the Scottish Premiership having rebuffed overtures from Dundee regarding the Dens Park vacancy this summer.
Ross has added Motherwell goalkeeper Craig Samson, Hearts attacker Gavin Reilly, young Aberdeen striker Cammy Smith, stopper Ross Stewart from Albion Rovers and Alloa Athletic midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick to his squad so far this summer as he uses this workout at Station Park to gear up to having a crack at bringing former glories back to St Mirren Park for the 2013 Scottish League Cup winners.
The club’s current pre-season schedule is as follows:
Sun July 2nd – St Mirren (home) 2.00 pm
Fri July 7th – Inverness CT (home) 7.30 pm
Thu July 20th – Nairn St Ninian (away) 7.30 pm
Sat July 22nd – New Elgin (away) 2.30 pm
